Capturing Sound Series Course 2: Getting sound through the wires to the speakers

Course goals: This six-hour course will give participants an introduction to all of the remaining components and tools used in the signal path.
The components discussed are Microphone preamps, line amps, Polarity, filters, Equalization, inserts, Compression, auxiliaries, effects (reverb, delay), monitor sends, panning, bussing, Mono and Stereo outputs, Graphic EQ, monitors and mains speakers including speaker design and crossovers.
There will be descriptions and discussion on each module/component so participants have a full understanding of what they do and how/when they are used.
Participants will hear numerous examples of the affect of various components and how they are used to improve the sound or solve typical problems with sound.

– Those interested in stage management

These courses will be held at Green Needle Records recording studio located 20 minutes outside of Whitehorse and will run from 10 am to 4 pm.
Dates to be announced based on minimum of 10 participants per session.
Each participant will receive a handout of reference material.
It is recommended to bring a pen and notebook.
Participants should bring a lunch and indoor shoes.
There will a half hour lunch break at 1 pm. A full kitchen, including fridge/stove and toaster oven, is available.
Each course costs $99 plus GST, paid in advance.
Courses cannot be recorded or filmed.
